Flight Level 2 Design (Blended)

blended learning

Establish collaboration across teams, departments, products, services or tribes. Design your Flight Levels 2 System without a major (expensive) reorganisation. Overcome silos and bottlenecks across your organisation. Learn how to design & operate Flight Levels within your product & service structure.

Course Description

Build the missing links between Strategy and Operational Agility!

Are you battling with loads of dependencies, swamped by new requests, and planning the next cycle?

Under pressure from your customers and stakeholders to deliver faster?

The main impediment to flow is a lack of interaction between your teams, not the agility of individual teams.

In this hands-on workshop, we will work to gain practical understanding of the concepts outlined in the "Introduction to Flight Levels" course. You will have the opportunity to design a Flight Level 2 system and gain insight into how to operate Flight Levels within Product and Service Areas of your organisation.

This course helps you uncover the big levers for improvement, and explores how you can practically apply them to your unique situation. We will focus coordinating the flow of value across multiple teams in a Department, Tribe, Product or Service area.

The workshop will take place over consecutive multiple live instructor-led sessions with Intersession Work in-between.

Content at a glance
  • Understand your situation - Map the current collaboration to overcome existing silos and understand how work gets done across the organization.

  • turn work into profit - Stop the busyness culture and start delivering value that creates profit.

  • design a better collaboration model - Connect and enable the right people to have the right conversations at the right time.

  • measure progress - Find out which metrics are appropriate for your context and start measuring.

  • be ready to take-off - Turn the newly acquired knowledge into actionable steps in your environment

WHY Flight Level 2 Design?
  1. Create harmonious delivery of value - In our organisations of today, we require the combined efforts of multiple teams or groups to produce value for a product or service. It is challenging to coordinate the slew of dependencies that arise between teams working on products. You will find better ways of achieving harmonius flow of value in this complicated space.

  2. Visualise work to make better decisions - Make visible the work that impacts multiple teams in a way that encourages tighter collaboration, and creates focus on doing the right things at the right time. What’s best for one team is often not what’s best for the organisation or product.

  3. Rethink meetings - No one these days is a stranger to “death-by-meeting”. Find ways of reducing meeting overhead and increasing impact of the interactions we have to coordinate and manage the flow of value to customers.

  4. Connect strategy to the work to realise it - Another benefit of Flight Level 2 (coordination) systems, is that it provides the missing link between Strategy (the world of outcomes) and Execution (the world of delivery). This “bridge” enables you to become more deliberate about producing meaningful work, focused on outcomes.

  5. Work with your own examples - We get practical! You will leave with the knowledge of how to build a Flight Level 2 (coordination) system in your company. You can work on your own example, or learn together with other participants on their examples.

  6. Learn from a leading Flight Levels Guide - Mike Freislich has been mentored by and has trained with Klaus Leopold, for many years prior to the existence of the Flight Levels Academy, and has deep knowledge and experience with the topics.

  7. Receive certification from the internationally accredited Flight Levels Academy - This course is part of a certified learning path, developed by the Flight Levels Academy.
